GRP Fibreglass
Compliance for Anti Slip, Visible Stairs and Steps
Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) 2004: All anti slip nosings are to be made apparent by a permanently contrasting material on both the tread and the riser…the surface is firm, durable and slip resistant
Building Regulations Document, Part M: Stairs should have a 55mm x 55mm colour contrasting nosing edge
Health and Safety Executive Guildelines: Stairs should have a 55mm x 5mm colour contrasting nosing edge
The indications above demonstrate that that steps should have an anti slip and colour contrasting stair nosing edge to meet with current regulations and guidelines.
Application of GRP Covers and Gratings
Our Stair Nosings and Treads, GRP Flooring and Anti Slip Grating are installed using one or a combination of methods depending upon the substrate.
For concrete, wood and steel floors or stairs you should use a combination of Uragrip and polyurethane adhesive and mechanical fixings such as screws and plugs. For mesh surfaces you should use our fixings only, and for impenetrable substrates such as chequer plate stair cases, just the use of our polyurethane adhesive is amply to bond the GRP.
